Heaven's wheel by Majixe Heaven's wheel by Majixe
Well, Ohayocon 2013 came and went and here is the first picture of my cosplay (photographed by the amazing :iconhiddendemon-666:) I decided to do Erza Scarlet's (Fairy Tail) Heaven's Wheel armor once again because i wasn't too happy with how my last version of it turned out :/ I gave myself a little bit more time to work on this one and I am so much happier with the results ^-^ I was still having a few problems with the rigging to the wings but all and all I think it was a lot more successful of a cosplay than last years.

Thanks and let me know what you all think ^-^

This is a phenomenal cosplay.  I have actually wanted to make this too, and I was wondering where you got the craft foam sheets that large.  I have checked all around me and can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thank you :3

I was able to find the 7 ft rolls of it in the kids craft section of my Joann Fabrics store back home. I do know that not all of the stores have it, the one I live by is tiny and didn't sell it, so you may have to look for a large store. I'm not sure if it's sold from their website or not, but it may be worth looking into ^^ (it took me four rolls of the 7ft to make the wings, and then some of the 12x18 sheets for the smaller bits of the wings ^^)

Hope that helps ^^

I really wish i had taken a picture of this, but to attach them, I made a rig that strapped on my back (three straps, one elastic around my chest, and then ribbon ones on each shoulder) it was just made out of layered cardboard. Then i cut slits in the cardboard to thread soft plastic through, i made little sleeve type things out of the soft plastic for the wings to slide into (the sleeves made almost an 'x' shape in the back, a little flatter of an x shape) on the wood rod of the wings, i put pegs (making the rod wider for about half an inch) where they hit the top of the sleeve, and then on the other side of peg, i attached another, smaller, sleeve that could be tied tightly on the other side of the peg on the wing's support, keeping it in place. Then I had a panel of craft foam designed to look like the back of the wings that flipped over it once the wings were in and covered it completely (i have a picture of that on here, but sadly i didn't just get a picture of the rig :/)

I hope that helps ^^ it's an odd thing to try and explain

The wings are made of thermoformed craft foam (The longest piece of each wing is supported by a wooden rod) and there's poster board backing in some places to keep the craft foam from flopping around.

I really wish i had taken a picture of this, but to attach them, I made a rig that strapped on my back (three straps, one around my chest, and then each shoulder) it was just made out of cardboard. Then i made little sleeve type things out of a soft plastic for the wings to slide into (the sleeves made almost an 'x' shape in the back, a little flatter of an x shape) on the wood rod of the wings, i put pegs (making the rod wider for about half an inch) where they hit the top of the sleeve, and then on the other side of peg, i attached another, smaller, sleeve that could be tied tightly on the other side of the peg on the wing's support, keeping it in place. Can you tell me what materials this is made out of and any techniques you used? Also how did you make the sword.

Epic cosplay, you did an awesome job! =D

Thank you ^o^

It's mostly made out of craft foam that's been thermoformed and then some poster board backing in certain places (mostly just the wings and hip plates) The longest panel to each wing is attached to a wooden rod which is attached to a rig on my back that's covered by a craft foam panel made to look like the back of the wings. Other than that it's mostly just the craft foam, heated, shaped, sprayed with plasti-dip, spray painted, then detailed with acrylic.

The sword is a wooden rod (thicker than the one on the wings). I cut the basic shape of the sword twice out of poster board, hot glued them to the rod and connected them at the edges. Cut the shapes out of craft foam and laid it over the poster board, connected at the edges, and cut the shapes around the hilt out of poster board and craft foam, connecting them in much the same way. I plasti-dipped it, spray painted it, detailed it with acrylic, and used electrical tape around the base.

Hope this helps and thanks again :D
